| What would be your template/default system? I don't think there is a single design "template" for a backyard system... It depends on what anyone has as components, relative heights, siphons or timed F&D, whether or not a sump is incorporated, how many fish they wish to stock... etc et... |

Not necessarily... they may be consuming all they need at the stage of growth they are at...
And the nitrate reading may just indicate an excess.. at this stage...
Or it could be that the plants just haven't yet begun to really take the nitrates up... |

| I would give them a little more time to mature.... not sure what variety you have but it's very possible that they just haven't reaching the flowering stage as yet... |

Yep, your pH drop is consistent with the nitrification cycle....
The difference between the pH in the tank.. and grow bed.... is probably also a reflection (as noted) of that nitrification...
Kind of kewl to actually see it measured... but of absolutely no consequence... |

| I wouldn't have thought this would be measurable, but perhaps your results show that it is. The difference measured was negligible... This morning the FT water was at pH 7.50, but water returning from GBs was at pH 7.45 And I'm wondering what it was measured with.... that can distinguish to 0.05 of... |
