| Yep culled the silvers to make way for trout which are in there now. I cycled this system without fish just because I thought it would cycle better at the time with Charlie carp and make the system more robust for the trout. |

Rupe's right, just add more clay balls or lower the height of the stand pipe.
Mine did the same thing until I added an extra bag of clay... |

| ... had about the same results as just putting the seeds in.. one thing that did help was watering the growbeds before sowing the seeds.. helped more "stick" in the right spots i expect |

| ... source... Tom leaves are curling and yellowing around the edges. Fish were just added to the system within the last 48 hrs. Tom issue has been for more than two weeks. I'm guessing a nute deficiency, perhaps iron but I'd like to hear from those more experienced.... pH tanked from 6.8 to 6.0 roughly ... |

| ... it all in about a month to keep the frost off and try and improve the growth. I think in Tassie you may have a problem with the length of the days more so than the cold? Don't mean to hijack, just adding my experience. |

The cheap(er) Chinese & Thai clay balls are more likely to float... at least initially....
But you shouldn't be seeing a significant rise and fall of the clay balls...
It suggests that perhaps you're flooding too high... your flood level shouldn't exceed 25mm below the media level... |

| Alright so I've been browsing the forums even more so since I have a 205 gallon tank I will need 205 gallons of grow bed hence the 1:1 ratio? And what about the nft I want to run from the grown beds, the plants in the pipe will still get the nutrients needed to live right? |

Ryan, at the new farm, are you planning to sell food fish much? Or are they more for you and the family and the fertilizer source for the plants?
If selling food fish, which varieties and how are you selling them? (live, whole on ice, or ?processed? if so how are you getting them processed?) |
