| the bacteria are throughout the water column, as I understand it you couldn't isolate them to the growbed even if you tried think about creekbeds and shorelines...no real barrier from the waterbody, and the same thing is happening in AP the really interesting part is when you start ... |

I think when you are asking yourself what's right for your system, you need to think about how hard you are going to push the system and how big it is ... |

Shepparyon guy has very clean IBCs for $50 each. Buy 2 and you'd pay for your petrol from Geelong and still save. Had milk products I think.

There's a thread on here somewhere that talks about tilapia in a pond with snow around it. But I think they go better a bit warmer. 
A 4ft high cool room seems a powrr hungry choice. Are you sure you haven't got a personal substation?

| ... in it and the goldfish liked eating the algae that i would break off somtimes. As far as " surface area for bacteria", im not so sure, i think the algae would stop that as when it builds up to a sludge layer, the algae would die. |

| I would think that the ultimate conclusion is that it would be a waste of time and money, but if you want to waste your time and money doing it, then it won't cause major problems, however it is a step backwards in my eyes. |

pH continues to fall, to 6.78 today, thats 0.6 down in 3 days, and looking like continuing, as the GB return water is at 6.69. I think I'll add a little bit of KHCO3 and shell grit to halt the drop.
Ammonia ~0.2ppm
Nitrite ~2-5ppm
Nitrate 10 ppm |
