Sooo, I was at my brothers house the other day watching his pool creepy crawly move around the bottom. I wonder if a miniature version could be developed for a FT?

Got me thinkin....

I have something like that, Gilgies. I was looking for Yabbies but was too tight to go buy some so I threw a net into an unnamed river and pulled out 8 critters that I thought were Yabbies. But they are longer and slenderer in the body and claws. A local told me they are Gilgies.

They keep the tank nice and clean but they are major escape artists.

But of course you collected them from a friends place, didn't you John? :thumbright:

I'm pretty sure that collecting species from the wild and taking them home to keep would probably be illegal..

Usually the claws are the best way to categorise.

Thanks for that, they are definitely Gilgies. One of them was found this morning walking across the back lawn, and now I cannot see any of the original 7 in the tank.

Anybody ever had yabbies nip through a pond liner? They seem to get through skin alright...

They may get through a pond liner whilst trying to burrow. The claws are definitely sharp enough.
