Are you human?: more now than ever

I’m going into my 5th year still trying to make my Aquaponic system produce vegetables. I can’t grow much. All of my vegetable plants whether by seed or starter plant are beautifully green with some flowers, but no vegetables. The water is crystal clear. The fish are healthy and fat (Gold Fish). The water quality is within all acceptable ranges. I don’t know what to do next. Any advice offered will be greatly appreciated. My garden only has 8 grow beds and they are about 15” deep x 40” wide X 48” long. Grow media are clay pellets. Water cycles 15 min. per hr. This is a flood and drain system. I have one 275 gal. fish tank above ground and one 275 gal. sump tank in the ground. The fish are fed once a day, in the evening. Only rain water is used. I’m looking forward to hearing from you.
Thanks for your time,
Gil Jones

It's been a while with no responses, so I'll offer my opinion. Could it be you have too many growbeds and not enough nutrient rich water to go around? You didnt say how many fish you have busy making plant food.
I gave up on keeping a f/d system going a couple years ago and converted to iAVs style sandbeds. No regrets at all. http://iavs.info/uncategorized/aquaponi ... t-mistake/

The link you post is the most ridiculous propaganda bullsh*t imaginable

"The iAVs is a living machine whereas the basic flood and drain system is, given a convergence of common events, a killing machine"

seriously?!.. you must be kidding

I am sure many types of media, or media-less configurations can work. Why wage publicity propaganda warfare trying to claim the legitimacy of the one true original aquaponics concept?

Its childish and tedious.

Didnt know I was waging a "publicity propaganda war", and I'm not claiming anything other than what has been written by me.

Childish? Tedious? really?!! I thought it might be informative.

Guess I should've checked with you before building my system 3 years ago since you're such an authority on everything AP. Afterall, you have such an impressive system going on.

Just so you'll know, I'm done with this conversation. I really doubt care what you think.

I remember reading this thread a couple of weeks ago & (I think) I seen several people answered

How many fish do you have?
What are you feeding them?
PH?
Nitrate?
Your measurements are in inches?
"Water cycles 15 min. per hr" Is the pump big enough to cycle the whole tank?
"Only rain water is used" Pollution maybe?
Is it an outdoor system?

I can't have any plants outside in winter because it's too cold, but in summer, the problem is pollution. The rain is no good here either.

Yep, that's Gary, and that's his modus operandi.. I see he hasn't changed. Wasn't so long ago he was claiming his normal media system was the ultimate.. He used to be on here many years back, but as you might imagine, it was all just too hard.

but to the issue.

How many fish do you have and how big are they? What are you feeding them, and how much are you feeding?
Also, is it indoor or outdoors? You say you get lots of green plants but no veggies, I assume you mean fruiting type vegetables? Perhaps lack of pollination?

What kind of veg are you growing and if they're the type to produce male and female flowers are they producing both? Then as earthbound has mentioned are they getting pollinated?
