Why solid removal filter for raft bed (DWC) ?
Answer 1 I know from Murry Hallem's DVD.
Because solid will cover root and block O2.
My question is if this is true. Why don't solid in media grow bed block the root plant?

Answer 2 I read some from TCL post or webpage.
Because if solid go through raft bed bacteria will consume O2 everywhere in the GB cause.
My question is if this is true. Why don't solid in media grow bed use up O2 and cause plant lack of O2?

Anybody experience solid waste cause problem in raft grow bed?
Can I have no solid filtration but more aeration?

I have a grow bed, no media, plant root directly in water, no filter, no problem.

In dwc the only surface area available for solids to stick to are the walls if the tank and the roots. In a media bed most, vast majority stick to the media.

If you run a media bed at constant flood you can have similar problems as a dwc tank with oxygen which is one of the reasons why flood and drain works so well.

If you are running a system at a low density you can get away with an awful lot of things that would cause disaster at moderate or higher densities.
