Dave, trust me, the feeder goldfish will be quarantined and salted for their very lives!

Scotty, I swear, they need http://doesthedogdie.com/ for TV shows, too!

Hi Karen, a few months ago I bought 50 Jade fingerlings. Over the next 10 days I lost 38 of them. Some time's one a day other time's five a day and like you I could not work out why.

After Blind Freddie contacted the supplier again the only thing we can point the finger at and he seems to think was the cause is that his ponds were at PH 5 and I put the fish into a PH 6.8 environment. Our other supplier always maintains there ponds at PH 7 and I have had not problems with fingerling from them. Cheers

Wow, I did not know such a site existed. It's incredible that someone would take the time to do something like that. Did the interns make it or are their bones being picked clean in the perch tank

Wow! That site made me think of my wife, her mom, and her favorite aunt. All through Alien, my wife is more worried about the cat than Rippley.

Bwahaha! Someone should make a parody site of the DidTheDogDie for Night Vale: DidtheInternDie?

Oh, I do not like the idea that such an extreme pH swing can be the culprit of slow, constant fish death, even with very, very careful introduction to the higher pH. If that's the case, I'm pretty much toast (without buying stock in a muriatic acid company...)

The acid is really quite cheap here. You can buy 20L of it for $50, and the 20L would be more than enough for your system, it's very, very concentrated. It might be more expensive there, but I'd be trying to keep the PH ideal in a commercial system.

What's your PH sitting on?

Karen, how are your fish doing? Did you ever find out what was killing them? I really enjoy your posts. Keep us up to date if you find time.

Karen, i'm curious if you ever figured this out. Ive got a small backyard setup with 150gallon FT and started with about 30 yellow perch in the 4-6 inch range that i got from a small local aquaculture place. They made the trip home fine, all lived through the first week or so just fine. However, since that time ive been consistently losing fish at about 1 every 3 or 4 days. im now down to about 20. water temps in mid 70s, ph about 7.4, no ammonia or nitrite spikes, no obvious signs of disease around gills on on body. no metal or runoff as im using RO water or whatever falls out of the sky. The best i can figure is maybe they came to me bad. But, i would have expected to lose a bunch in the initial stressful introduction days so i dunno. There must be something in my system causing it but i cannot figure it out. did you learn anything that might help me?
