You should have had a look at the books we have on the shelf while you were down here. We have lots of different books and DVD's, and we are only 2 minutes down the road...

Yep... an online, interactive book... authorative, recognised worldwide, vast amount of info and constantly updated...

It's called the BackyardAquaponics Forum.... it will teach you all you need to know... or will answer any questions you may have....

And it's FREE.....

As to this one....

I couldn't even get the link to open/display correctly.... and frankly I wouldn't go near an online e-zine pdf download anyway.....

If they're not a scam... they're a scam, because they're either full of complete crap...

Or have nobbled bits and pieces of other peoples (often copyrighted) material into a... sometimes barely comprehensible and vaguely worthwhile generic overview of the subject....

The internet and blogging... has allowed all the scammers and flim-flam merchants to suddenly present themselves as "experts"... when most of them have never rubbed two fish pellets together.... but a pretty good at googling... and filling out a generic... get rich by publishing ebooks... template...

If you really need more in depth knowledge... than you can find here on the forum... or from researching the earlier pioneers of aquaponics...

Buy a book on principles of aquaculture... and hydroponics... then come back to the forum...

OK... here's some sample pages from the "book"...

http://www.accesstoaquaponics.com/book/ ... review.pdf

Compiled by a group of people with obvious  aquaponics experience...

Quote:
Founder Bevan Suits is an industrial designer, writer and video producer with nearly 25 years of exploration of this idea, “sustainable”. He has experience identifying and opening new product market categories.

Associate Suha Keskintepe is in charge of marketing and graphic design. He brings many years of agency experience and Fortune 500 clients.

Associate Dave Radlmann is recognized as one of the premier green builders in the southeast, developing millions of square feet of new properties that define the cutting edge of sustainable development. He has been raising fish for over twenty years.

Beven.. with nearly 25 years of exploration of this idea.... never heard of him...

A graphics designer.... guess they'll build pretty systems...

And Dave the builder..... who apparantly has been raising fish for 20 years.... not sure where, I couldn't find anything about him...

Bandwagon jumpers... get rich.. with the latest fad... online "entrepenuers"....

Steer clear I reckon...

yep i agree with rupe,

I purchased the above mentioned material and received some this xmas in which I read in a 1 day (because I have the AP bug real bad.)
the book was fairly basic and not nothing more that the forum could answer by using the search option. In saying this, the last chapter had some useful useful info in regards to Micro farming.
I found the video really good and entertaining as a beginner but didnt explain in very much depth any material in regards to running and maintaining your system, just very basic stuff. (designed to get you hooked on AP)
on line here @ BYAP FORUM has been awesome. Once you work out how to use the search function good everything is at your finger tips.

in regards to other books i've read some material which is very similar to the above mentioned.

IMHO nothing beats getting you hands dirty and learning as you go along.

Good Luck!

regards
Matt

Hi All,

Thanks for all the replies, have been away so I was surprised with the response to a question that I thought would receive one or two responses.
I did say I would be in 2010 to buy a few things. But the gift voucher is for a Gardencity shopping centre, not much good at BYAP.
I must admit I have learnt a hell of a lot about AP since joining this forum, and still learning everytime I log in and read through the threads.

cheers to all.
Peter

Hey Faye, not too sure that it is actually available in most newsagents... I have tried a number of newsagents around my place and also Carousel Cannington... but I could not find the book... They do carry some Earth Garden publications but not Easy Aquaponics for some reason...

I know I can get it at the BYAP shop but it was just convenient for me to pop into a newsagent while the missus is doing her shopping...
