Hello All, Here in Lake Charles, LA. I am just now learning about Aquaponics and have a desire to setup my own. Is there a way to send a private message to a certain person on this forum?

South Jackson Area. Just getting setup (delayed and slowed by surgery). Here's a pic from this week. Hoping to start cycling soon.

Here's the floorplan as it stands right now. Located in the greenhouse portion of my shop.

Check Craigslist. Search for 275 gallon and/or IBC Tote.

My system is running pretty well after a few adjustments.

I tried to add some minnows from the adjacent bayou.
That had strange results :)

Some of the minnows are still surviving but the sump pump ate the rest.
I will need to restock in a few days from the same source.

I would add an image but the size limits here require I edit every photo.
If you want to see the minnows check my blog.

Hello guys from the Biloxi area. I live in Saucier, about 20 minutes north of Gulfport/Biloxi. My official intro is at View Topic and Scotte pointed out this thread to me. Nice to know there are others close by :)

I have attached a pic of the system my son and I built. I look forward to getting to know y'all a little better.

Welcome @spazz

I like your idea with the mini grow towers.
I've been thinking of adding some thing similar to my system.

My system is getting better each day and presents some new challenge for me to solve each week. But I guess that is what makes it fun.

If you are in Slidell, let me know and I will buy you a cup at Starbucks.

Meraux here!! I am just getting up and running with my mini home depot tote style system. I am going to pick up a couple IBC's next week and using this small system as a jumping off point.

There's a guy in Hattiesburg who sells 275 gallon IBC totes for $50; if you private message me, I'll give you his name and number; he will even deliver.

Hey all, Stone County here. Been researching AP for a few years but due to my employment i have traveled too much to get started. Now that I,m starting a new Job and will be working from home, and I'm in the AP Design phase. I Have designed my greenhouse and fish house, trying to use all the best of the best Ideas I have seen over the time researching.

For anybody in this area. Need help finding IBC's. I'm looking for at least 20 of them in my system. does anybody know where to find/get them reasonable???? Most places I've seen them for sale or available, the individual has been your typical Mississippi Greedy and wanting a small fortune for something they pretty much got for free!!!

Also i have sourced out fish locally, found a place that has Tilapia, and looking at possibly trying Trout with the help of Geo Thermal Temp control. I have the acreage to experiment on all types of ideas.

I would really like to network with locals to brainstorm/ test and try in my experimental system.

let me know what you think. or pm me contact Info and we can chat.

Thanks for your time.

In Prairieville, La. Have not gotten a system up and running yet, but plan to do a small indoor system using goldfish to get started and learn the ropes before tackling a larger system. We plan to sell this house with the postage stamp yard and HOA next year and want to find a place with some acreage. Once we find that and move, I plan to set up a green house and larger outdoor system. Been growing veggies in raised beds and still kind of green at that so I still have a LONG way to go.

@bioptro - Where on earth did you get that much expanded clay? I have been trying to decide what medium I wanted to use and I know we have a ton of clay in the area (I am reminded every time I have to dig).

Going next weekend to Pick up 20 IBC's up near Starkville MS. If anybody is interested I have the contact for the guy I'm buying them from. I''l talk to him and see if it's ok to pass his number on.

Been working hard at learning Sketchup and laying out my design Ideas.

I want to try using Geo thermal to cool the water going back to my tanks. I think I have it figured pretty good but not sure. I plan on going 6 to 8 ft deep and laying coils of black PVC pipe. gonna have about 320ft of cooling time 4 runs. It'll hopefully drop temp by 5 to 10 degrees.
