We are going ahead with Aquaponics at our school

10m long poly tunnel
Plan Chift Pist
10x (2 rows) of IBC 400mm deep
6x IBC sumps 500mm deep
1x 4500 litre fish tank (rain water 2m high)
1x barrel RFF

Here is the canvas: The potting tables would be shortened and we would take 2/3rds of the length of the greenhouse

Here is our costing and parts list

Brilliant! I'd eventually love to get involved in a community project like this in my community.

WRC makes me think World Rally Championship, but in this case it's Whopping Really Cool.
Keep up the good work, it will make a difference to a lot of students. In ways that many of them won't even realise.

Warragul Regional College :)

Talked to the business manager and he is keen to start straight away.

Does the design look okay?

Should I incorporate a NFT ? floating raft?

The vertical growspace is a little squished with the curve of the sides.

Design looks fine to me, but you forgot your sump and RFF (if you are still having them).

Sumps will be half IBC's inline under growbeds with cages as supports - 90mm uniseals connecting.
Its a concrete slab on that side of the tunnel.

The tunnel is also shade cloth not PVC.

RFF will be that IBC at the end - just borrowed tristrams design on sketchup and didn't delete it.

Had another Look with Ag teacher. He suggested removing one of the dirt beds and burying the fish tank. I couldn't see a way to get the pipes across without having to go over the slab or out of the greenhouse, so stuck with tank on concrete.

Is there pumps that will pump 2m head height?

Also the poly tunnel is plastic and shadecloth - so nice and warm.

They also have a plastic heating tray about 2m's long and 600mm wide and 20mm deep. I wonder how I could utilise this?>

I had a Lowarra DOC3gt, that supposedly did a 2m head before losing any flow.
there are some ebara submersibles that are meant to do the same thing, "best one, optima", etc.

That one is very similar to the one I use. It's cheap to run, and has a head height of 5M. So it shouldn't loose too much pressure on the way to 2m. I'm sure if you did some googling you'd find the head height chart.

With the heat matting, the best I could suggest is wrapping the FT with it, but I don't think you'll get enough warmth from it, it takes a fair chunk of energy to heat a large body of water to any noticeable degree.

Just leave room for when they want to expand to the other side. When they compare the growth from the dirt to the AP, it won't be a hard decision.
