Harmony primary school focuses on sustainability, the school was built around sustainable principles and is leading the future of education.

The main buildings are all made from local products and are all electronically controlled to maintain an optimum temperature in all the classrooms. The school supports modern teaching practices that encourage the students to think outside the square.

Harmony has a small organic permaculture food garden that they use to teach students and parents about home food production and plant sciences. They have recently added to their garden a medium size aquaponics system of six beds.

Aquaponics is a great teaching tool, it can be incorporated into many of the existing subjects at both primary schools and high schools. The teachers at Harmony primary have realised this and now incorporate many of their classes with the new aquaponics system.

Harmony primary recently received a grant from the 'Stephanie Alexander: Kitchen Garden Program' which they have used to design, build and maintain their permaculture garden.

The program runs for four years and shows the students clear connections between gardening, cooking and eating. The students are involved in planting and taking care of edible plants, that they then cook and share with others.

Below are some pictures taken on the day of installation.

What a lucky bunch of kids...tremendous opportunity to have an AP system like that too.

One statement seems unusual.....

maybe I am missing something but that sorta thing is common in our local schools. Unless your speaking of something different than thermostats. Maybe geothermal/solar? I would like
to learn more. Is there a website?
