Howdy all,

I'm working on an interesting project to get aquaponics into the local schools. One thing that I don't have yet is a great document to hand off to the educators that will be incorporating aquaponics into their lectures. I'd like to enlist your help with creating such a document.

My vision is that the document will have:
an introduction to aquaponics
a chapter on fish
a chapter on microorganisms
a chapter on plants
some regular care & maintenance tips
troubleshooting common problems such as nutrient lock out and pests/bugs

I want to publish this document under a free and open license such as creative commons so that the world can benefit from our work. You will be listed as an author so this would be a good time to plug your aquaponics company! The document will be reviewed and edited before it's final publishing.

If you are with me, PM me your email address and I will invite you to a google wave so that we can collaborate.

.

Most schools have computer access these days, can you use a site where there is a wealth of information easily accessible with lots of guides to get started and a supportive online community..... :dontknow:

I am not totally pooh poohing the idea of a manual like this but the above sentiments are exactly what I tell schools that want to run AP systems. Unless they are going to be willing participants in information sharing through a forum such as this and ask questions to truely understand their system then AP in a school environment will end in tears. I have not met many teachers who would read such a manual and then be able to successfully implement a system in a school as there needs to be an understanding and thirst for knowledge in regard to AP for them to not only be successful in it's implemtation but in passing that information successfully onto students.
