Hi All

Myself, Col and my husband have been reading the forum for a couple of months now. Thankyou all for taking the time to post success and failures.

We thought we would show you ours.

To start of we had a normal soil vege patch. 15mtrs by 5 mtrs, it is made of timber, reo for the walls and shade cloth covering it. The reason for the reo is to keep our two garden loving dogs out, and this stuff, out of alot of fencing worked.

Then i found this website, and we then thought maybe we could ditch the soil and have an aquaponics raised garden bed.

We first started with 1 IBC. Just so we could see what pitfalls there were with it.

Well, that went great guns. Bruce then took over and has now converted the whole lot to aquaponics.

He joined 2 IBC's together to make a 1600 ltr tank, which have 4 x 300 ltr grow beds plus to tall pots off the side. That is one lot.

He then has done the other side of the shade house the same.

So we have all together, 3200 ltrs of tank and 2400 ltrs of grow bed.

One of the tanks has 50 odd silver perch in it, which we got 6 months ago as 75mm fingerlings, now they are at least 180mm.

The other tank has 10 x 15cm trout, which i am sure will have at least 20-25 more when we can get them.

The system is a constant flow, which seems to go well for us. The growth we have had from the vegetable has been outstanding. 1000 times better than soil and our water bill has come down alot.

These photos are when we first started 6 months ago.

I will add more when i have re-sized them.
