Well I had to clean out one of the beds which had been overrun with tomatoes and gotukola and it was not looking very nice. I turned off the tap to the bed and emptied out as much foliage and root matter as I could, not it is all neat and tidy and ready for replanting. In the mean time I harvested a few green tomatoes and left them sitting in the sun between the beds to ripen.

I do love the contrast of the beautiful oak leaf lettuce with the black chili in the background. The leafy veges are filling out and I am still snacking on the odd cherry tomatoes. Plenty of leafy lettuce and snow pea sprouts too.

I keep watching this one ripen day by day, and looking forward to the day when I can make a lovely tomato and onion sandwich with fresh bread and butter, yummy.
Sometimes the simplest things in life are the best. Despite the freezing temperatures that we are experiencing and the mega storms with branches down everywhere, the trout are powering away.

Nice work Faye.

I pulled out the last of my cherry-toms the other day because they all split. I don't know if this is a condition of the weather or not, or the traditional "inside growing faster than outside" argument, but I am assuming it was the recent cold nights?

Hope my toms are good his time round.'planted a bunch of romma seeds from Yates but they all came it with a powdery consistency. Maybe too late in season, maybe a crap variety???

Self sown cherries are going great at the moment though. Hopefully will be better than my last attempts.

File comment: These crazy chinese leafy greens just never seem to hang around long, always wanting to bolt to flower even in the coldest weather. At least the flower heads are good in salads and the bees love them too.

File comment: These tomatoes have been left to ripen in between gowbeds, I reckon they might be just about ready for adding to the next bowl of salad.

File comment: Mmm this bed could easily be called the salad bowl. It is always a catch 22 do I serve a great looking salad for my guests or do I keep the system looking lush and leafy. Perhaps a comprimise as it wil be dark when they arrive anyway.

File comment: The driveway next to the AP system lined with a bay tree hedge, lots of winter weeds around and the air filled with winter flowering wattle. The photo does not indicate just how cold the mornings are.

Well we did it, we ate Tom last night. :) He was a delightful accompaniment to the steak egg and brussel sprouts. Not a great photo unfortunately, firm and fleshy yummo!

I was thinking that this will be a good plant to take cuttings from. I think it was in a three pack of tomatoes that I got from Bunnings last summer, perhaps I wil be able to go back and check the variety, as it is probably somewhere in this thread.

I glanced accross as I walked past the AP system to go to the car this morning, and I have to say "I miss seeing Tom hanging there".
