I have been researching starting an aquaponics system in my 2000 sq foot block basement. I have an old horse water tank to put the fish in and have been given a whole stack of 2" and 6" pipe that was supposed to be for a well drilling project that fell thru. I am looking for suggestions from experienced Aquaponics growers on the best way to utilize 6" pipe. I have yet to purchase my baskets. I was considering 3" baskets but would those be too small for a 6" pipe system? Would cutting it open and using rafts or something be better?

Where I am going to be growing indoor I would like to keep the airborne moisture to a minimum which is why I was thinking baskets in holes would be better than open water table style.

I have several years experience raising and selling fodder (barley sprouts) for livestock feed as well as, have experience keeping a large outdoor pond stocked with trout so I have a grasp of most the basics. I just don't want to waste this great startup opportunity on trial and error as 6" pipe would be rather spendy to replace.
