It's the pipe the mines use to go under the gravel roads on the borefields (KCGM) to contain the bore water so it does not contaminate the bush as the bore water is 7 times saltier than sea water.
It will all become apparent when I get some to show you.

Just a little update.

Image

Decided to use one of my blue tubs from kmart, brought them a month or so ago, thought I would use the last of my Hydroton and Perlite.

Image

Will filter a few more solids out too I think. It is just setup as straight drain to the tank.

Image

Everything is still going swimmingly.

gotta be honest with your ozzie, your system has performed far better than i thought it would. Points bro :)

does the silver beet have any problem remaining upright?

PS, watch those weeds in the first pick (the ones in pink) they grow quickly :)

yeah but you can pull the other weeds out and put them in the bin :P

The system has quite a few problems with water flow, and I would do it differently if given the chance - it will have to do for now.

Silverbeet does fine, I just keep it trimmed to keep the weight down a bit - its enough of a pain having to tie the matoes up let alone silverbeet aswell.

Still, ya gotta love em (well you can't put them back :? )

I think this system has alot going for it, easy to build and maintain.
The only adjustment i would make in the future is add an IBC instead of the tub to grow out edible fish.
