Hmm they show up fine on chrome on my phone. Are you on a comp with a firewall that could block it?

Bummer! I'm linking them through postimage.org (I know, I could put them up directly on the forum but I'm also posting pics on a different forum where I can't do that and it's easier to do one set of links and use them both places).

Probably some sort of firewall or active content blocker at my company.

yup I have a lot of problems on other forums when people use an outside host... my company blocks them... looking on my work computer now I can't see them either but they do work on my phone.

Mel, what I've resorted to for posting to different forums is post them on one forum then link them on the other forums back to the forum I posted them on. Some of the forums limit how much you can upload so it works to get around that... plus most forums if you post them directly to the forum they aren't going to change their source code to make it so the pictures no longer work, so hopefully the pictures survive long term for the other forums I post the link to (using img= and /img in brackets works on most forums to post the link between them so the image shows in the thread like it were posted there rather than having to click the link to actually go to the other forum)

yes and no, maybe both.

it is mainly photo bucket thing and their desire to drive stuff through pathways that make them money.
eg. you can actually click on the image and get re-directed to the pics if you have a logged in photobucket account.
Facebook did something similar - restricting page viewing unless a logged in facebook user.

They have evidently got people hooked and now trying to push some extra income.
Can also come down to whether/what hosts etc choose to support them.
It happened previously (and regularly) with other posts back a few years that used similar type things - the problem with choosing to use these types of things is they control the shots.

often if you are a member etc they are not blocked...but depends on how you browse and allow stored passwords cookies browse tracking etc.

a lot of posts/threads quickly became much less valuable when photo bucket changed its rules for non-member access / secondary hosting recently.

course Mel could also allow external viewing just by paying a little bit toward their costs....... see below.
But I can understand why that may not be attractive ;-)

post above refers to first 30 odd pages of Mels thread... same for Collums thread and a few others.
(images replaced by the photobucket link)

probably actually BYAP and site hosts that that message targets......

the most recent ones Mel posted are showing OK for me on PC internet using chrome and firefox.
But guess over time if externally linked they too will become unavailable.

Darren those latest ones aren't Photobucket, so they might last a bit longer until the website gains recognition then start charging.

I hadn't considered maybe they were targeting web hosts (forums) not their registered users..
I guess that might be easier to stomach for some, but still not for a free forum when they are already paying to host images on their own site.

yep - noted that in my 2nd post. first 30 odd pages are photobucket then presumably changed (which currently works). But not first time this has happened in forum either - why people posting via links is always a pain.

+1

I generally don't bother looking at photos in the bucket or other external repositories, if they really want people to see them, they should include them with their post. It really is not hard to do.

To be honest, this forum is the most difficult one I've ever encountered when it comes to posting images. Every other forum I have ever posted a picture on automatically resizes your photos to the size they want them to be. That is why I started posting them on one of the other forums I'm on then linking them here because I didn't have to resize them... otherwise I was stuck emailing the pictures to myself so I could open them on my computer to resize them... I finally gave in and found 'Photo & Picture Resizer' and downloaded it... works pretty easy to resize pictures on my phone so now I can post them direct here much easier. Then if I want to post them on another forum I can still right click and copy the link then link them on the other forums.

Yeah, photobucket still isn't getting $400 out of me. :P Sucks to be them!

The tomatoes in the dirt garden are getting into the swing of things - I've been getting the occasional one here and there, but this morning I picked over a kilo, mixed between sauce tomatoes, Green Zebras, and orange Grosse Lisse:

And then this evening as I was puttering around doing my last check on everything I got another half kilo, mostly Green Zebras. I'll have enough to make a batch of chutney soon! :headbang:

Hi Boss! Good to see you too! :wave1:

My hip replacement surgery has been the best thing ever. My best friend and I headed up to Sydney on Monday for a viking raid er I mean shopping trip. We walked at least six kilometres and my hip held up just fine! (Other bits of me were complaining, but you can't have everything...) Next step is my knee realignment surgery, and that's happening Friday next week!
