I got one of those cheap (don't rouse on me Tim) solar floating lights the other day and put it in for a try at bug feeding the fish. The only thing is, I've been too lazy come night time to go up and check if its doing any good

I just found the motherlode of duckweed supplies!

We had a trip to the local zoo this morning for Playgroup and on the wander around I noticed that lots of the ponds had duckweed in them. Of course, lots of the ponds also have crocodiles in them and as I'm not allowed to go in with the crocs anymore :( , I figured that source was out.

But, the dingo enclosure has a moat, you guessed it, full of duckweed! So I asked one of the staff (not backwards about coming forwards this one) and someone duly arrived with a rake. I forced the children to eat their lunch really fast so I could have the lunchbox, and we PACKED the box full of weed, no extra water at all. The zoo is only 10 minutes from home so the weed was fine.

I've just restocked the 2 bath tubs, given heaps to the fish and some to the ducks (it's their weed after all).

Now I have an even better source than the lagoon in town! Yippee!

I used to work at the local wildlife park as a ranger/tour guide/shit shoveller (it was in another lifetime). I was one of only 2 women in Queensland to be actively working with crocs at that time. If I remember I'll get Alex to scan some of the pictures from way back when. For those in Oz, I even had my picture in the Australasian Post (with all my clothes on!) and no bikini in sight. I have a pic of me getting a croc to do a death roll.

I've also worked at what is now Reef HQ, diving with the sharks on a daily basis.
