Week 8

Most of the plants are doing well. There are a few types that haven't sprouted yet/at all (celery, red mammoth cabbage, leeks are very slow, parsley, walking stick cabbage). The walking stick possibly got cooked before the shadecloth went up over that growbed.
I've been told by lots of people that you can't grow celery in NQ. Don't know yet :?

The fish are good, NOT 25cm long, but 12cm for the Jades and about 7cm for the Silvers.

Strawberry runners should be at the shop on Saturday, so planting that afternoon.

week 9

Towers
put the strawberry runners in yesterday, don't know what variety they are, but they were about $7.50 for a bundle of 10 (put in 40)

Replanted some of the seeds that haven't germinated yesterday.
Having a spot of bother with some very hungry caterpillars  some dipel will be purchased tomorrow (they are too tiny to see yet, but you can see the damage)

Blue Drums
The beans are taller than me (and the small children) and are having their tops pinched off as they come over the top of the mesh.
The silverbeet, chard, lettuce and chinese cabbage are doing well.
The carrots and beetroots have been shifted in the bed a bit to thin them out.
The red cabbage has finally germinated.

Big Bed
The tomatoes are in different stages of growth. Some are only just sprouting. Others are about 10cm tall with nice thick stems.
The eggplants are similar.
There was no parsley a week ago, and now there are about a dozen.

Medium Bed
We've got about 8 corn plants so far.
Six cucumber plants and dozens of snowpeas.

Fish
Starving, greedy, growing.
But, every now and then as we watch them, one or two of them flash at the bottom of the tank. Then they get less food for the day.

Time you got a test kit Jaymie. I would think that given the size of your tank and your beds it is unlikley that you would have an ammonia or nitrite problem and nitrate should no be a big issue yet either.

Bite the bullet, get the test and then you will know for sure.

I meant to say also, we have our version of autumn now (morning temps have dropped to 21o, days only to 30o) this has seen the fish tank water temp drop from last week's 31o to 26o now.
The thermometer is a cheap floating pool one. One day I'll get around to taking the max/min up there and seeing if the bottom of the tank is any different from the top, temperature wise.
