Right.

That would explain it.

I'm looking at this in another window

https://shop.mabisdmi.com/e2wItemMain.a ... 3100000433

or at least I was trying to...I cant get a price. None of the buttons on the page seem to work for me.

I wonder if this is the same tech as pond foggers.

A pond fogger is a thing that makes fog.

On a pond.

You see them in hardware stores in the plant section right next to the natural-look(R) ponds.

Fog comes under aquaponics. I'm just not sure how yet :)

I plan on playing with solids removal to a worm farm, and worms to fish food. I personally think that aquaponic's solids are best left in the system, but I'm really sick of throwing kitchen scraps away (into council green waste). In our previous life, we converted it all into eggs, and happy pets. So I need a worm farm, but I figure I may as well dabble in nutrient removal. And ages ago I promised someone I'd look into nutrient removal. Or solids removal.

Does that fall under vermiculture, or aquaponics? :)

Thanks for the sense of direction.

A link paints a thousand words. Or something.

I just checked, and I nearly coined a phrase. Google says "A link paints a thousand words" has only been said four times :)

Things I know now that I didnt know last month.

1. You need a lot of protein in fresh water to make a protein shake, but that's ok.

2. There is some very cool junk in medical supply shops/doctors offices.

3. When led into the inner depths of your local doc's surgery to get nebulised, not all bottles of gas hanging in hallways are nitrous oxide or oxygen.

That's it really. But it is early in the month.

What does a doctor need with CO2, and why is it hanging in a hallway? Emergency CO2?

My diet pepsi's flat. Give me 10cc's of CO2 stat!

I love the word "stat".

A very young and very cute doctor who was treating mefor whatever ailment I had last time, turned to a very experienced nurse and prescribed some saline, then added "stat" in what I felt might have been a bit of a test. Perhaps even the very first time she said it. I got the feeling she liked the word "stat" as well.

Is there a common, Latin, medical term for "When you get around to it"?

Emergency hallway CO2 proves, yet again, that the world is often stranger than I previously thought, and at any given time, I think it's pretty strange.

I was enjoying yum cha this morning and had a bit of a look in the restaurant's fishtank. Barramundi were selling at 24$au and Murray cod were selling for 54$au.

That is no doubt the price for a cooked whole fish served in the restaurant rather than the price of a fish.

But...

The interesting thing is the difference. They were both farmed fish as they would be illegal at that size to take from the wild, so I thought they would be around the same price.

Do Murray cod take that much longer to grow out, or is it a population density issue or something?

I thought Murray cod made fiends with each other if they were stocked heavily.

It is funny that you should post tonight mr BW. I was just thinking about you and your blog and wondering how it was all getting on.

I have just started my own blog entirely for my own memory and tracking and it made me wonder how you were going so went and had a flick through your blog. Good to see the automatic fish feeder is still happening :thumbright:

I hope your AP is still going well?

Sorry i cant answer your question...

Yeah, the system is still ticking along nicely.

No news is good news :)

I'm currently waiting for some warmth and light to impress me with some amazing strawberry growth rates as I put 60 odd runners in the system and another 140 odd in dirt.

Dirt. It seems so old fashioned.

And I need to make an automatic feeder that delivers worms, as nothing else seems to be interesting my silvers at the moment.

As for the blog, I'm spending too much time trying to sort out my aquaponics powered boat for my epic adventure, and not enough time writing about sorting out my aquaponics powered boat for my epic adventure.

Epic adventures on aquaponics powered boats can be like that.

Speaking of endless photography, has anyone tried one of those garden cams that you stick outside, and they take a photo every 5 minutes (or whatever) and the images get strung together to make a time lapse video?

Or a webcam, perhaps I need a webcam.

Good to hear everything is going along swimmingly.

You can pick up webcams very cheap and there are plenty of programs that will make the time lapse videos for you. I seem to recall you use ubuntu, so i think a quick search in the software center would yield results for you.

Only place I've seen an actual gardencam has been on amazon..

I had a quick mess around with a webcam and some time lapse software just a couple of days ago though.. The prog I ended up using on windoze was Debut, but I was trying to get a spare cheap android phone to work as a wifi webcam and it kept dropping frames so I gave up on it..

I found an old webcam that works on my ubuntu PC in the shed (it's a CNC controller) and tried to replicate it on there, although I didn't really look very hard, I only found some cheesy portrait morphing software before getting sidetracked onto something else..

Cool.

It turns out "Cheese", Ubuntu's web cam app probably does what I want.

It can take stills at interval, so I can probably find a way to knit them all together.

For anyone who might find it useful, "Cheese" deals with the stills and timing, and "OpenShot video editor" can knit them together. Both programs offer lots of options for different frame rates etc, and both are free and open source.

I think I might do some time lapse photography.
