Yeah, I put that silver beet in there from the garden. I had seedlings in there from the start but they did not grow, so I pulled them from the growbeds and put them out in the soil garden.
A couple of weeks ago I thought I would try one in the system now that its cycled and the ph is down
Its going very well now :)

This new bed will put me on the limit for this small system me thinks. If they all fill at once the FT will be down pretty low.
I might expand the NFT system though :)

Got a 12V sump pump and fail over switch and wired and plumbed them in today. I now have battery backup for both air and water pumps.
Works a treat.

Got the new bed up and running and planted out with chinese brocolli, chives and some red shallot bulbs.

And here is a shot of the plant progress. Brocolli has heads about 2inches accross, lettuce and spring onions, and some peas ready to pick.

looking good Manto!

cant wait til my broccolis are going that good!!!!

do u think you could remove the Leaves of the broccoli plants as they are really for the protection of the plant, but the hothouse does that job....

i reckon i'll give it a go with one of mine not sure how it would go but would give u some more planting room maybe??

just was pondering this over night hahahaha

BBU Unit Looks good!

Not sure on the removing leaves thing. It might work. I know you can prune off a lot of leaves on tomatoes and they still produce good fruit.
I'll try it with one of mine and let you know.
The backup unit puts the mind at ease a bit yes :D

What about 250l Stock tanks?? i priced them for like $169

Not sure weather there viable or in the size range you need, but i guess IBC's are cheap and very usable.

Don't remove to many of your leaves, the leaves are there to capture sunlight and produce energy for the plant, if you cut them off you're broccoli heads won't be very big because it won't have much energy.
