Is anyone aware of the southward heading "line" in Southern Western Australia, where on one side you are permitted to keep marron and on the other yabbies, as they are not compatible in the same waterways?
My reason for asking is that i have just seen someone selling live yabbies from their backyard...Would hate to see members of the public releasing them into local waterways to try breed them, only to kill off our local marron population
:dontknow: :dontknow:

Thats what I mean. Once I start seeing refugees this far away from the border I get worried!

I think it is fine to grow Jilgies and Koonacs in this area, not sure about any marron restrictions though...

Had never heard of this. Have seen a sign advertising them for sale just down the road though, was wondering how they would go in my system, doesnt look like ill be getting any now though.

Its not hard to see how people get caught out though, I try and be as carefull as I can, and (I think) I do a reasonable job of researching things before I jump in, but theres always something else, and never a shortage of rules and regulations to trip you up.

Thanks for posting this, was good to find out now.

Yep, don't feel bad - unless you've played around in the murky world of WA aquaculture, you would never know about it.
