I am in the process of constructing a PVC greebhouse and aquaponics system - combo windowfarmish/dabo bucketss- and am trying to decide what fish to get for my tanks - 150 gallons via 3x55 gallon barrels.I was all set to go with Blue Talapia until my cardiologist cautioned me about Talapia. According to my doctor, Talapia are high in Omega 6 oil which places them on the level of steak. I would really be interested in the Jade Perch if it can be brought into the USA. Omega 3 is the good Omega oil and favored by cardiologist.

Does anyone know where I can order Jade Perch in the USA?

Is there a way to get these guys in the US? Or a reasonable substitute?

These fish are perfect for Aquaponics.

Ive tried Barramundi (you need to know how to handle and feed them and can be tricky. Fussy)
Ive tried tilapia (overall a great fish for aquaponics but I found that they can be very territorial when they lay eggs and basically attack anything within a 1 metre radius and will stress the rest of the fish. However will eat anything and will keep the tank clean)

I now have 30 plus Jades and these little guys are great. You can increase or decrease feed amounts depending on your systems needs. Incredible eaters and will eat just about anything. Love how they smash greens such as lettuce. Growth rates in 30c temps have so far been incredible. They have doubled their size in about a month. Adapt quickly to any environment to such an extent that I had them delivered by air, picked them up at 1300 from the airport, put them in my system shortly after and had them feeding at 1700.

Cant wait to cook one up.
