Any suggestions please, my trout seem to be a bit finnicky about eating, they take all I give them for a few days then not eat at all on another day. The water has changed a bit during the last heavy rain we had it filled the tank to the top, have drained off about 200lts, the test today shows Ph6.0 ammonia 0.50 Nitrite 0 nitrate very high 160ppm Temp12.4 I have one standard grow bed & another about 1/2 size all full of plants which are going mad, the fish seem to be happy & healthy swimming around all the time, I would like to get the Ph up to around 7 where it normally is.

If your pH test is reading 6.0.... it may be below that...

I'd bring it back to around 6.4 .... use a tablespoon of hydrated lime... and test again the next day...

Put about 1teaspoon of ecofungicide into a bucket of water, stir it up, empty into fish tank, measure ph the next day... BUT you're better off only doing this once your ammonia drops off a bit so I'd wait a day or two first till that drops before adding the ecofungicide..

edit - pretty close to the same recommendation.

Yep... ecofungicide will do the job....

And good point about the ammonia... hadn't seen that... so wait a day or two.... and perhaps drop back to a teaspoon if you use the hydrated lime...

You don't want to move your pH too quickly... especially with ammonia at level... as it becomes more toxic as the pH rises...

Thanks guys the fish are hungry again today so will do a test tomorrow & see where we are at
