I have 120 rainbow trout in a circular 1500L tank, I have the inlet going across a spray bar so that the water constantly swirls. What I'm wondering is am I stressing the fish out if they have to constantly swim against the current?

Anyone have any insights on this?

Not stressing the fish at all, swimming is what fish do in the wild! However, I can see problems developing with that many fish packed into a small tank.

I just figured in the wild they might find parts of the stream that don't flow strong for a rest.

I've got about 20 sliver mature silver perch on top of it too although there dormant atm. I did the same last year but lost about 10 jumpers. Toward the end of their growing season probably around Nov. I'll start thinning their numbers before removing them all around Jan.

My entire system is nearly 10KL with a pretty big stone bed so I seem to get away with it so far.

Rainbows love to swim against the current. So I wouldn’t worry about it.
