|Post subject:||Fin Rot Questions|
I’ve recently built a small system with some goldfish that had fin rot from the store. I didn’t notice till I got them home and recently treated the water with API’s Pimafix. Upon further investigation it seems adding aquarium salt would have been the way to go. On the back of the chemical it reads “for animal consumption only. Not for human consumption or for the treatment of fish intended for human consumption”. I don’t have the treated water running through the grow bed (clay pebbles media) currently as I am worried it will contaminate the plants. My question is will the plants be harmed if I complete the treatment and start putting water back into the grow bed? What are your opinions on other aquarium chemicals such as PH up or down? It seems you are supposed to treat with natural solutions and I haven’t done that. Should I do a water change? Any help is much appreciated since I’m so new to this. The last thing I want to do is grow vegetables that will be contaminated and not safe to eat.

Normally aquarium treatments are not recommended for fish intended for consumption, not sure if it will have effect on plants intended for consumption.
Theres lots of threads/topics in regards to fish health and AP safe treatments.
Search for topic titles containing fish health or disease, even salting etc
