Antoniyo is a keen gardener and very excited about getting fish for her system which was installed on Monday afternoon. The weather was coming in and a thunderstorm was forecast. But never fail the team at BYAP will have your system installed in a flash.
Carl advised that it was best to keep the bed away from the fence for ease of access and she says, that was good advice. Apparently if the system was against the boundary, the fish tank would now be home to the blown over fence, which came down in the high winds later that evening.

Hi Jd, we would start by planting the system straight away and find that fish can be added the next day. In this case the water used was straight tap water, we do not need to add dechlorinator as the chlorine in Perth water dissipates within about 24 hours. Many people use scheme water without losing fish and water topups are generally done weekly to cope with water lost through evaporation, transpiration as well as what the fish splash out.
Antoniyo is stocking her system with koi and goldfish and was going to do that today, she could easily add 25 fish to the system. She could add more as they will not be as fast growing as some other freshwater fish, and plant growth will be determined by the amount of feed going in to the system
Our recommendation is up to 25 advanced fingerlings (10cm) this will allow them to grow to safely up to around 5oog in this system. Her other choices here would be trout in the cool months, barramundi in the warm months or silver perch year round.

Sweet thanks for the advice, its much appreciated
Im in Vic and looking at setting some thing up early next year.I would be interested in doing it with fish we could eat(trout, barra or similar)
Temp is going to be the biggest problem
How does the system go with energy efficiency(electricity prices are getting ridicules)
