Until very recently.... the State Governement had a gross feedback tariff of 60c/kw... for systems up to 10kw max... contracted for 5 years

http://more.nsw.gov.au/articles/nsw-solar-bonus-scheme

The current price of power is about... 20c/kw...

They've canned the scheme lately... as too many people took it up...

In this case, usage in often significantly less than what is generated....

In other words... it's revenue positive...

 great for those who got in on it while it lasted.

Yea, it can never be just one thing can it. Goes to show these things can be fairly complex and it is a bit more than plugging a panel into a battery and powering your pump.

Even if you are producing more than enough of your own electricity to waste it lighting up trees all night that no body is looking at... is it socially/environmentally responsible to do so... :dontknow:

Any chance of convincing them that the "impressive" trees might only need to be lit for the hours before the household retires for the evening... and put them on a timer... or do the security guards like looking at them...?

No kidding. I have to say I didn't even think about that. I turn most of my lights out for the night. No reason to produce light pollution!

I have quite a few lights on my property, but most are on switches and I just turn on when I want them on....low cost and easy... A couple others are on motion sensors for security. Now that I think about it, there were a couple pointing up into trees that were cut down a few years ago...probaby time to point them somewhere else.

Just need to get another alternator, 'only' 83 amps at 12v, actually quite achievable.

Haven't been able to get up to the site for a few weeks... and there's been some hot days... including today...

47 degrees in the greenhouse... 38 degrees in the shed.... 28 degrees in the trout tank...

Dropped the tank down and refilled with some coller bore water... back to 26... and a couple of cool nights predicted... should be able to pull the tank back to 22...

and I'd already pulled the peas... Jim had "thinned" out a few tomatos from the other two bed system... and transplanted them... sadly the last couple of days of heat has knocked them around....

Keep an eye on the roots in the two bed system.. Every time I see tomato plants doing really well my first thought is "ahhhhhh the roots". Its incredible how quickly they get into all the pipe work.

Checked them when I was there EB... and will each time...

Yeah tomatos roots will invade any pipe work rapidly... got to be on to it all the time...
