Are you human?: more now than ever

Hello Friends, Well it's been a year sense I've started growing vegetables in my system and I've done quite well. Now, all my fish died at one time. I'll correct the problem, but, can I use the same water to start over again? My system is 600 gal. I disconnected my filters and did not reconnect them until it was too late - 8 days. I assume this was the problem other than that they were healthy. Please, if I can clean my existing water it would save money so I'll be waiting to hear from you. Thank you all for being here, Gil Jones

Hiya giljones, tough question to answer without having the reason for the fish dying specifically...
Do you have grow beds? Did you leave the pump off? What are your water parameters?
Edit
Just read your other thread, so you have gbs. But still dont know why you need to clean your water.

Hi Almost, my water looks good, doesn't smell bad at all however I do need to clean the algae off the wall of the ibc sump. I have 2 ibc grow beds and will soon have 6 more totaling app. 600 gal. I do believe that my forgetfulness caused the loss of my fish. Thanks for your help, by the way this system has been operating for a little more than one year, ane we have been very pleased with the produce.

Hi giljones. As Skeggley says, you probably won't get a useful answer until you give a bit more detail. Things like:

Did your fish die because, when you diconnected the filters, the ammonia built up.
Or did that somehow also result in low oxygenation
are you sure that it was the filter issue... as opposed to disease of some sort? Or maybe algae buildup - I think this can drop oxygen in the night.

Suggest posting water testing results... ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH
Photos never go astray
Has the system been running since you lost your fish, with filters connected? If so, and if the original problem was ammonia or nitrite, the water may well be fine now.

If the fish died because you disconnected your filters resulting in death due to build up of TAN and or reduced oxygen then just connecting the filters and running the system for a while should be all you need to do.

Check the TAN levels and if they were 0 I'd say you were ready to add fish.
