I have bought new and second hand systems , fish from different suppliers on several occasion over the past few years and did not know one was required until today, :dontknow:
Applied for and recieved translocation permit for silver perch, no qestion asked about a permit to keep 'em . I would have thought fisheriers , as part of the process, would have suggested you needed both.
Classic case of the left hand knowing what the right hands doing.

Well, we had a surprise today..... Two lovely dept of fisheries translocation inspectors dropped in this afternoon to see where and how we keep our fish!
They were very nice and seemed to be ok with what we had and didn't ask anything about a silver perch permit, which we don't have!
Our application for trout and barramundi seems to have got lost (we sent it in April).......and we do have trout, but they seemed ok with it all.

If your application "got lost", how did the inspectors know where you lived?

Because we had a licence for silver perch....they came to check on that, and then discovered that we had trout as well! Who knows if it will lead to anything, but they were very reasonable and aware that there are lots of AP people who have lots of different aquatic animals. We have our trout and barra application dated April this year, and already had the SP licence, so hopefully there will be no issues!

So they turned up unannounced? That's the second time I've heard of that happening.. Bit rude really.

Yes, unannounced, but Fisheries have those powers based on their management of sea and river fisheries and we are on their data base with the Perch licence anyway.

Well good to see what our fishing license fees are being spent on. Something that has not much to do with recreational fishing. Let me ask you this. How many APers pay a yearly recreational fishing license?

I've seen first hand where the license fees are going, one of the last times we were out in the boat fishing, an almost new cat with HUGE outboards came flying up to us, three young people on board in uniform asked what we'd caught and if they could see.. And where's your fishing license, and your skippers ticket... Ten minutes later we headed back the 200m to the boat ramp, a tiny hardly used boat ramp. Sitting in the car park was a flash 4x4 with a couple more fisheries officers sitting in there looking out over the ocean.. Same thing again, what have you caught, show us your licenses.. This was a weekday at a boat ramp where you'd be lucky to have 2 people launch all day.
