another [even easier] option is to simply display the image on your screen and then use the Windows
Snipping Tool (windows 7+) to simply grab the image and save it as jpg.

To keep under 800x600 your image will need to be about quarter of your screen (not full screen).

[edit] if a big screen just an image about the size of an old traditional photo or the new post input text box.
much better small images in posts than massive ones that are too large look at.

Image size limit is actually 900x900 - stated in error message when load is not successful.
(just uploaded a 867 pixel image)

Hi, did anyone solve the rotation of pictures when uploaded issue?
I have gone to post some resized pics tonight & I am having the same problem as a few months ago. One picture is rotating 180deg! I also tried saving rotated pictures in the hope they would unwind once uploaded - no luck.
Most frustrating!!!

For my desktop I use a free program called Greenshot. It's a screen capture program. When I view a picture, I can push printscreen, then drag a window around what I want. As I drag it displays the pixel size so I can keep it below 900. Then you can save as a pdf or whatever - ready to upload. I had a resize app on my old phone that worked well, but not anymore.

800x600 works, while 600x800 doesn't, is there a reason why?

Thx!

It has to do with the monitors display formats. They will usually have several available depending on the model.
The display formats are all "X" x "Y" The first number, 800 or X" is the horizontal and the 600 or "Y" is the vertical.
most monitors are wider than they are tall. Trying to force it to 600x800 is probably not within the available display formats of your specific monitor. Hope this made sense and helps.
