Salvinia has recently been reported being sold at weekend markets and online, from Perth suburbs such as Morley, Kensington and Bedfordale, through to Bunbury and Margaret River.
A threat to agriculture, and native plants and animals, this quickly spreading water weed is not allowed to be sold or traded.
Across WA, please keep an eye out and report any sale or offer to trade of this illegal water weed.

Thanks Arbe - this is one of the types commonly called duckweed in WA and other parts of Australia.

There are other types of duckweed but mostly the problem is the fast growing ones are foreign ones.

Walking through the markets I see many plants that aren't legal to sell, arum Lilly's and lantana being a couple that come to mind. Copied clothes and the like are rife too. It surprises me that nothing seems to be policed.
