UPDATE : The Canning River parkrun will start on Saturday 01 June 2013 at 08:00. See FB : http://www.facebook.com/canningriverparkrun?fref=ts for more information. Come along, rain, hail or shine, for a free timed run/walk culminating with coffee and brekky at the Canning River Cafe who have a special deal just for registered parkrunners/parkfunners.

parkruns in Claisebrook Cove (East Perth) and Rockingham are going strong.

parkruns are still in the making for Ellenbrook (Aveley Park), Joondalup and Bunbury.

Dr Bee: the parkrun website will include the new runs within the week they are scheduled to commence (allegedly?)

Inspirational quote from a parkfunner: Even if you have to walk, you're still going faster than everyone on the couch!

An update for those near Ellenbrook...

"We are pleased to announce that Aveley parkrun will officially launch on July 6th at the Central park in Aveley."

I have just started running after 10 years of having children and all the associated excuses for not doing it. I just recently found a gym with a free crèche so that's where I go for my 'break'. I ran 3km today and if felt effortless and that's a massive achievement for me. I've been working heaps on improving my core strength and I find this improves my running tremendously. I had no idea that stronger abs would change your running style so much.

I've also been able to do my 1st ever chin up! I am so stoked cause i would always complain that if I could at least do one then I could improve on that. I have got a 40kg counterweight to push me up lol but today I made that 35 and I'm hoping to improve on that til I look like that chick on terminator, the kids mum. What was her name?

Great work Colours. The biggest improvement I made to my running style was to take my shoes off, adopting barefoot running/minimalist running. I'm now deep in training for my first marathon on 16 June.

It's been a while, but there are now parkruns in every state and territory in Australia! I attended the debut of Bunbury last week, and there are parkrun 'special' events just about every week.

Even if you dont consider yourself a runner, parkrun is to all ages and abilities.
