they would be the second worse Scotty..... the top would be those that do that and then try to get people to pay or subscribe to get the information.......or have little messages on the side about donating to support the site.

Lately I've been gettin sites playing sound that persist when I close the window.

I hate it when they learn new tricks.

But I'm on a windows box. Mrs Bullwinkle, and my mum dont get bothered by such things because they are running linux.

Every year around this time, and especially after Christmas there is a large increase in the number of plastic Xmas trees being dumped in the recycling center. Before Christmas we might be able to sell a few, after they are landfill.
Personally I would like to see the GST on these things go up to 75% to stop some people throwing them away every year (and trust me I hate government taxation).

I am trying to encourage my 5yr old granddaughter to call her 'tree' Landfill then perhaps she will remember later, when she understands, the implications of these things.

This corporate driven Christmas crap really pisses me off :upset: , its nice to get the family together, but do we really need all this bullshit.

I found HVN to be up to 10% more expensive than Dick Smith but since they're gone I've got stuff from JB or Good Guys.
I tell them what make I want and let them do the running around.

Pete.

JB & Good Guys are now the one company or owned by the one parent company ...or will be shortly.

Not sure who your TV man is Milne but I would put Hisense as a midrange TV not some company that buys reject panels etc. They also have the best warranty in Australia.
Yes I have one 51" 4k smart tv mainly watched by my granddaughter.
Ringing round is no good you go down to a store and when you are given a price be a little reluctant and see how much you can get them down.
42" these days is pretty small so you might get a good price on a 'named' brand. :)

Handy tip for joining forums that are not quite as honest as BYAP.

BYAP hasnt given my email address to anyone.

If you create a gmail account eg bullwinkleII @ gmail.com (not my real account, and the spaces either side of the @ are just in case someone does own that email address, and gets spammed by bots that read posts), when you subscribe to something (say bastardcompany pty ltd), or join a forum, you can leave your email address like this ...

bullwinkleII+bastardcompany @ gmail.com

Google's mail server will ignore anything after the plus, but if you click the little "to me" arrow next to the "from" address in gmail, you will see the "to" address as bullwinkleII+bastardcompany @ gmail.com.

This way you can track the bastards selling your email address.

If you see spam from a hamburger joint that thinks your email address is bullwinkleII+bastardcompany @ gmail.com, you know who they bought it from.

Bastards!

I currently have 3,742 unread emails in the account I keep for subscribing to things. I only ever check it when I need to click to confirm a subscription or something.

3,742!

And I note that that screen grab has one more spam email since I started writing this :)
