While looking at some 'banned' TED talks (I never even knew they DID ban or remove talks) I found this little gem.

It's removal from TEd speaks volumes about the processes going on in the background of what I had, up till today, seen as one of the most egalitarian sources of current information around.

I will never look at TED the same way again. :(

I don't think banned is the correct word.
TED routinely add and remove videos.
They also invite the speaker to talk about that subject. Its not like they didn't know what was being added when they first uploaded it.

Youtube uploaders routinely use catch phrases such as banned etc to get more views.
They are selling their product and making something like $1 per 1000 views.
Adding banned to the title would attract more views and generate more income for them.

I think it actually was banned, I just listened to a radio interview with him, talking about how it all came about..

It is often a surprise how many of the decisions made around our lives are NOT made based on common sense - the mantra of how the rich create jobs and so should not have to pay as much as you and me is often heard even in Australia. In the US it is a catechism, which is why I would think, this got banned.

I just hadn't realised before this that TED would censor talks.

Another golden dreams in the dust...

Though I agree with him on a purely taxation growth perspective.
What it fails to address is capitalism needs exponential growth which need infinite resources.
Theres not enough carrots on sticks to go around.
As soon as someone declares the American dream was a nightmare fantasy the better we will al be.

Gaddafi tried by calling for the world (African in particular) to get off the $US - the instant that happens the US is history. Having to hold $US to buy oil is the ONLY reason the US can print their way through the debt they have. As soon as countries don't have to hold $US they will hit the US for gold to replace the worthless junk that is the greenback and the world (China in particular) will foreclose on the US.

And we will have our first 4th world country. Particularly given how their Govt has allowed the export of all their industry - no funds to kickstart new industry, nobody willing to sell to them, it will make the collapse of Russia look like a fart in the wind.

The ultra-rich won't care - they will vanish from the US like smoke. The people with guns will self-destruct as they all try to grab the last of the spoils and the population will crash.
