Who did you get your basalt rebar from in the states? I've searched with alibaba but it didn't come up with any suppliers for the States and certainly none for Australia.

Good luck, Stuart.

Basalt rebar is the future.

Every year, the American Society of Civil Engineers has a concrete canoe competition. The team that builds the fastest, and lightest canoe, out of concrete, and paddles it to the finish line first, wins.

Many of these canoes are made using basalt mesh. It is the secret weapon of 21st century concrete construction.

http://www.asce.org/concretecanoe/

I saw a YouTube video, and it was an Aquaponics operation in central or south america. It was huge, the largest outdoor aquaponics operation I have ever seen.

The operation was using circular concrete fish tanks, with the bottom shaped like a funnel. I suppose they had a large screen high up over the opening at the bottom of the tank to keep the fish in.

There was a pipe attached to the opening at bottom of the tank that went underneath the tank, and back up outside the tank to just below the water level of the tank.

When they wanted to clean the tank, they opened a valve and the water shot out of the pipe, and through a net. All of the fish poop went into the net, with the rest of the water going into another tank.

That was the easiest way I have ever seen on how to flush the fish poop out of a tank.

John

Thanks for that John. I'll check them out. I've since found another Australian Source and I hoping to meet with them in the next week or two.

I think you need to do a bit more research. Check out more of the recirculating aquaculture tank designs.

Though, I'd appreciate the YouTube link if you can find it.

Nate Storeys tanks look like that, round with conical bottom.

they have a SLO and a drain on the bottom of the cone.
