:?: :( :?

Sorry if this sounds harsh but this forum is a mess.

Countless threads in places they are not suppose to be. For example, new members introducing themself in general/plant/hardware sub-forum. This is wasting our time since we need to sift out the info we are looking for and the unnecessary battle to go through a lot of non-related thread. So in the spirit of true sustainability, a big cleanup operation should be carried soon. I see at least a few dozen threads talking about the same thing.

Why not make it more organized so people can interact and at the same time make it easier for everybody to find what they are looking for.

Just a suggestion.

Cheers and have a good day.

P/S : What do you guys think about it? Vote in the poll.

Those new members can be rascals.

One of the reasons you see such repitition is because so many of us are willing to answer new peoples questions even though they have been answered elsewhere.

I had similar thoughts when I joined, ehhh some time ago.

Because it would take a massive amount of work and a particular type of seriously OCD person that could play nicely with the moderators. And once the job was done it would just get messed up again.

I love this forum and while it has its problems the pros massively out way the cons. Sometimes you just have to except things the way they are.

As much as I sympathise with your frustration I would have appreciated this thread more if you had placed in the hardware section  (I'm so naughty)

I also notice that you haven't commented on the tendency of threads to go off topic or get hijacked sometimes by the second post and most of the time by the second page.

+101 to all..

On another forum, the moderators just ZAP anything that is OT.. problem, naturally, is that you need moderators with OCD, and prepared to moderate, ruthlessly.. :notworthy:

It would be good, it the thread "owner" had automatic moderation rights, so that we could ALL moderate the site.. ( I doubt that the site code permits that, anyway )

It is indeed good that folk take the trouble to respond to the same questions over and over again, because a newbie will likely not know the real question needing to be asked..

I couldn't disagree more BuiDoi.

The forum is a bit of an anarchic mess but it works. It may not be as good as it could be at disseminating AP information easily but what it excels at is fostering a community that is willing to support people, primarily in their AP endeavours but in other aspects of their life as well.

I wouldn't change a thing.

LOL :laughing3:

Ehh ... no but I'd like to because if I knew I might know whether ours works or not.

You do realise that d3m0n is obviously a little OCD and intentionally hijacking his thread will cause him mental anguish.

@ d3m0n fortunately or unfortunately this is the kind of thing you have to put up with when trying to have a serious conversation around here. Oh and people using archaic measurements like gallons, really annoying.

Feet and inches are ok though.

It really doesn't matter how organised or streamlined you make the forum; there is still that much information here that you are still going to need to employ the search functionality to find what you're looking for... if only people used the search function in the first place instead of asking the same questions (which have already been answered).

This is nothing compared to some forums I've been on.

I only browse via the 'View Active Topics' button so everything is just in a single list. Much easier that way I've found.

When I first started visiting the site I found it a bit hard to find the info I was after and I thought that some locked sticky threads in each section, written by mods explaining the basics would have helped a lot. Or if the "Basic Info" section was locked and only held the important and basic info instead of discussions.

+1 Once you've got the basics sorted I think this is the easiest way to use the forum.

The culture that results in so much info being freely shared on what's probably the best AP website around also results in a fair bit of banter.
If you're here for long you'll become one of us...
