OK, here's a thread for people to use if they have had a bad experience with something or someone, or if you've just had a bad day and want to blow of some steam..

The idea of this thread is for people to express themselves and to get their disapointment or anger out of their system. Feel free to offer other members support or understanding, but this is not the place to argue an opinion or point...

I'm starting..... Pushy sales people that come to your door... I had one here the other day trying to talk me into roller shutters, I was trying to be polite, I told her that I really had no interest in buying any shutters.. But she just kept pushing, "I'm not selling them, I'm just making you an offer" What..? :?

"But do you realize the benefits of roller shutters? Why is it that you don't like them? Is it because of the colour range? Is it because you think they make your house dark inside? They save you money so how could you not want them. You realize that most heat is lost through your window, roof insulation doesn't really do much..."

Everytime I started to walk away back inside she would start again. "we only have one more house in the street way can make this exceptional offer to. Do you realise how much you can save from having roiller shutters....

Everysecond statement I made was, "I'm just not interested" "no"

It went on for about 10 minutes before she finally left, as with many of the phone sales people, she was really pushing the boundaries for me to remain polite.. So for me to make her leave sooner, I would have had to lower myself to abusing her or just shutting the door in her face while she's talking... And that sux...

we are very fortunate to live in an area that door-to-door folk don't come to (too far to drive and too far between properties), but it's good for your karma that you didn't eventually have to lower yourself to her level

hey eb,

the trick is to make your house look as scary and unapproachable as possible. have a bunch of dead holdens out the front and various other salvages. this way they think your to poor to sell goods to. i have dead marron out the front to welcome "visitors". over the past year i may have had 1 door knocker and i think they were religious nuts trying to redeem my soul. i just don't answer the door unless i'm expecting someone.

by the sounds of if they invade your privacy in an attempt to make you justify paying for shutters, to shut people like them out. clever marketing really.

I may have started it by explaining how to key  by typing "colon twisted colon" and commenting that it sounded like something one needed to be admitted to the hospital for. After that it was all downhill.
:takes a bow:

That's my strategy! I have a half finished greenhouse attached to the north side of our house, a pile of old pots at the front gate and a front verandah with some old couches and random junk on it. The funny thing is that instead of sales people, we get people stopping and asking if they could buy our plants :)

The thing is my place does look quite scary from the front as many people might already know... :? I plan on having a fence out there soon so they won;t even make it into the front yard...

My dear old FIL was a chihuahua breeder - any salesman who got within speaking distance of him had already had his socks shredded by about 40 midget mutts, all equipped with very pointy fangs, so was granted an audience before running the hairy pirahna gauntlet to get back to his car. Heaven help the hapless jerk who kicked or trod on one, he was granted no audience at all!
