he makes the absurdly interesting observation that "at the time, we knew more about the surface of the moon than the poles".

That had never occurred to me. I love/hate that. There could have been a volcano island with dinosaurs at the north and south poles and we would never have known. Get thee underwater, under ground, into space, and into aquaponics!
