Post subject:  A change is happening

Most of you would be aware that I was looking for some changes to happen here at the shop, looking at different possibilities of selling up, so that I could continue on with things that have slipped by the way side over time, and possibly start some new things.

Well time has come, in a couple of weeks the shop here in Jandakot is going to have new owners.. :headbang:

For those of you who've become accustomed to the BYAP shop here in Jandakot, and those who may not like change, never fear, in reality very little is going to change, in fact I imagine that many customers won't even notice the change.

So what exactly is happening? The physical shop here in Jandakot and the online shop that sells feed, pumps etc is going to be handed over and renamed to "Cheidys Aquaponics". Cheidys Aquaponics will be selling the same things that BYAP has always sold, the same kits, the same feed, the same hardware, it will be the same phone number, and the same opening hours. Cheidys will also be honouring any BYAP warranties and quotes.

Who are Cheidy Aquaponics? Sue and her good friend Maureen. Who are they? Anyone who's been into the shop has probably spoken to Sue as she's been working here for at least 18 months now, she's also seamonkey here on the forum.

This is a fantastic outcome for everyone. I will be keeping the websites and forum and BYAP will remain alive but shift it's focus back to the information side of things, where it originally began. The shop will be passed onto someone who knows the systems and already knows many of the regular customers that come in here.

I had worried about what would happen if I sold to someone who didn't have the same values, who would want to change everything cut costs and corners and start selling lower quality systems and components and offer poor advice. And I probably could have sold the business onto someone with less scruples for a lot more, but you can't buy peace of mind.

So big congrats to Sue and Maureen.. I hope you all keep coming in here for your AP needs, if you don't I'll track you down and slap you with a cold fish... :)

Hey great to see you have a buyer, even better to see that its one of the "family".
IMHO, extremely bad idea to change the name of a successful business, ever.

Sorry, commented before i finished reading, i suppoe if you are keeping the BYAP name for the site, etc. then they dont have choice but to change the shop name.

Good luck with everything in the future!

Umm...I think it is only the shop changing hands not the website.

Does that mean we can look forward to future issues of the BYAP mag Joel?

Post subject:  Re: A change is happening

Yep...... :) After I've had a little break, I'll be onto the BYAP mag the BF mag and a few other publications..

You know the funny thing about the shop is that many people who've been in here wouldn't even know who I was and if I was even here or not, hiding away in the office... So it's not like people are going to miss me being here....

:wave1: Thank you all for your well wishes. We have a huge job ahead of us as BYAP has built up a great reputation of nearly 7 years in their display shop. I have had the joy of working there for the last year and a half and have met many interesting people and their systems.
This opportunity is fantastic and we hope it will be successful.

What's with the name, you ask? Cheidy (pronounced Chee-dee)will be taking on Jokers very important job. Joel, we understand why you never named your business, Jokers Aquaponics :geek:

Cheidy will be looking forward to meeting you all as will myself and Maureen. :headbang:
