Are we getting advertising on the forum now?
Cos I'd contribute a few dollars to stop that from happening.
Found this add in the following thread.

They pop up if you're not logged in.

I can't see any there, and I'm on the work computer with no ad blockers.

Column is right, there is no advertising when logged in.

If you mean the reference to the API test kits they are the most recommended kits used by many on the forum, not so much an ad as good advice.
Occasionally bots and spammers do try to sneak through but our mods do a good job of catching them and removing their posts pretty quickly and banning them. :thumbright:

Yep, as the above have mentioned...

As of right now, 15 members logged in, 50 guests.. Those "guests" see adverts, members don't.. :)

Gosh you're good to us EB :)
I'd never really noticed before, but it actually is nice not having Ebay and Gumtree trying to tempt me with things, when I'm already in an AP-obsessed frame of mind. A girl could blow her whole paycheck without realising pretty easily. Note to self - make sure I'm always logged on!

I have no issue with adverts at all.

When we have such a great resource, you cannot expect that it should be run at a loss, or no profit.

If you decide to show ads, good on you Joel. I can just ignore them like I do on free to air.

Didn't cost me a cent to register, and I do not expect you to run this as a not for profit.

Just my 2c worth.

Arr ok now I get it
Some how my "log me in each visit" got un checked and I was seeing adds
That's cool
No bodgy I didn't mean the reference to the API kit I know they are popular
There was an add for something else under that post

Continuum I appreciate your point of view, and in whole heartedly agree, that Joel should not have to brunt the cost of running this forum for us. I do however think advertising in a forum is bad policy.
When you go down the sponsorship road you have someone else deciding the rules for you. Not always bad but seldom good.
I believe that a membership, say a couple of dollars each member, would more than cover costs.
Any left over could go to running competitions of some sort or maybe donated to charity.

But Joel has kept us add free and fee free and I thank him for that

Joel & others. Thanks for the explanation
