On the 25th August 2006, starting at around 11.00 Minnamurra Aquaponics are going to be holding a free field day. Dr Wilson Leonard and his business partner have recently set up this aquaponics facility in Kinglake West, Victoria and they will be opening it to the public for the day.

There will be a free BBQ lunch provided and because the open day is working in with Geoff Wilson's aquaponic study tour, there will be a chance to meet some aquaponic experts from around the world.

If you are interested in attending, please contact Dr Lennard (willennard@gmail.com) with your details and contact info ASAP so that he can get an idea on numbers.

Further information about lectures and workshops can be found on Geoff Wilson's web site http://urbanag_nettworx.iwpp0.com/Aquaponics_workshops.html

I am wondering if I may be able to wing it over to there for it myself.... It's a big call from Perth, but there is also going to be some aquaponic stuff happening in Brisbane about a week before, I'm just waiting on further info from Geoff Wilson, I'll post it as soon as I get it..

Would be nice to get over to Brissie for that and then down to Melbourne, but may be pushin the finances.... Steve, LB and Warren, it may be up to you guys to take notes and pictures, and ask if you can post them on the group....

I have a reply from Geoff Wilson, I am sure he won't mind me reproducing his email for the info of others....as follows..

Hi Murray,
You are booked. I am preparing details to send out by pdf later today. By Saturday evening my website should have its Westpac gateway facility operational for credit card payments if this is convenient for you. Otherwise I can send an invoice in today's mail for the $115 --which includes GST, venue hire, refreshments, a light lunch and notes - and pays part of the air fares of the three speakers - two from North America and one from Melbourne. The lecture/workshop event will be from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm at Joondoburri conference centre at Bribie Island Aquaculture Research Centre on Friday, August 18. I will have to get back to you about arrangements to visit Ecofish International and Coochin Creek Eels on August 17. Nobody has yet shown an interest in the full tour of 10 days (a sign of our busy times perhaps) so I am now running three lecture/workshops (one at Bribie on August 18, one at the Sydney Fish market on August 23 and one in Melbourne on August 26. I hope to be able to offer participants at Bribie the August 17 visits at a nominal $10 each to cover organising costs and a gift to each owner visited. I should be able to offer you a lift. If you wish to stay at Joondoburri motel (part of the lecture/workshop venue) at Bribie on the night of August 17 I can book you in and you can pay for accommodation and meals on departure. This would have the advantage of you being able to meet with the three experts over dinner perhaps.
Regards,
Geoff.

I want to encourage others to support this tour ....I beleive it is a rare opportunity to rapidly expand our knowledge on the subjest.
For me it is worth the day off and 115.00.... It's cheap !!!!

Brisbane and near people ....get behind the Brisbane leg of the tour...
I am sure the Melbourne guys will get behind it to make it a success.
Here is Geoff Wilsons email address to book your seat etc.

told my wife about the melburne day, and she said "you should go" so unless I get struck by lightning, I reckon, I'll make my way across. Can't wait :wav:

Spread the word about this group as well peoples. At these events there will be lots of people interested in aquaponics and the more varied input we can get on here, the easier it is for everyone to build systems and experiment without making costly mistakes...
