Geoff Wilson, Convener, Aquaponics Network Australia. Brisbane.
Wilson will be chairing the Aquaponics Feature at the International Aquaculture Conference to be held in Adelaide in late August. He says this will be the first time Aquaponics has been given exposure at a conference of this importance. He predicts Aquaponics will be the dominant form of food production in the future and help cope with climate change.

He says one of the first steps is to set up rooftop Aquaponics in cities, making use of vegetable scraps from supermarkets and restaurants, fed to worms, for fish food, producing fish and shell fish. It is a technology that can be practiced anywhere. He is designing a system that will take the scrap from a small supermarket and several restaurants to be built on a rooftop in Brisbane. He tells how good Aquaponics is in reducing Greenhouse Gasses. He says it is virtually Mother Nature at work. He will be leading a National Aquaculture Study Tour leading up to the conference. Three of the world’s leading authorities on Aquaponics will attend the conference.
