easyihzy, if you check out the hardware section, there are a few recent threads about siphons that you might like to check out, they explain it fairly well, and have lots of pics.. Just check out the thread titles for siphon or syphon..

Heya, yeah this system is no longer running but as EB said there are heaps of other threads that have auto-siphon discussion. I will update one of the posts in my members system with a pic of mine from the top down, and attempt to explain it a bit better for you. Siphons will behave differently depending on a number of factors present in your setup, luckily, they are extremely scalable and very reliable once you have them working properly. Have fun, there is heaps of info here it just takes a little work to find it sometimes ;)

The discussion is good in the forums though... Sometimes, OK a lot of times we get off topic but this is by far the friendliest and most vibrant (for want of a less *sigh* word :)) forum I have ever participated in. IMO It is due mostly to the fact that the mods aren't nazis and everyone is happy to have a proper discussion (which includes going off on tangents, as most good conversations do).

The place for concise information is the FAQ and Basic Information forums, which should be moderated more heavily and contain discussion that is relevant to, and adds value (again, wanting a less *sigh* word), to the original post.

hmmm, *shines light in S77's face* - vee haf ways to make you talk! ;)

We dont mind the off on a tanget thing too much, normally we get back on track/topic within a few posts...
but be not fooled, some warnings have been issued at times, but ONLY when absolutely neede or when it looks like something or someone might get nasty or spoil the 'near harmony' in here...

hmmm, now then, what were we talking about in here again ;)

Is there any way people can flag posts, I (and i'm sure others) would be happy to go through the forum and highlight any posts that I have found particularly good, or informational, and then you guys could try to pick the guts out of them when you had time?

simmo77,
What do you want in a siphon?
How much water do you want to drawdown?
Do you have a target flow rate or size?
Do you want two siphons in the same tank to alternate? First one works, then the other works? Output could be piped to differnt tanks.
How much should a siphon kit that works the first time? cost?
Do you want a siphon to act as a flow divider? 2 way? 3 way? 4 way? 5 way?

Have you seen the Flout?
http://www.rissyplastics.com/flout/
What do you think of it?

Anyone can respond, I listen to any and all ideas.
Sparkchaser.

There has been a few threads on the flout - Daniel is currently developing his ideas on it

Try reading Daniels's outer flouter
