It is very encouraging to see you producing so many fish Image and it makes me feel even more eager to get my system finished and producing because I know its going to take a year before we are up to eating fish out of the system. My mouth is just watering thinking about all those tasty fish Image

For now my fish are stuck in an aquarium Image

Jaymie or Axl,
What % shade cloth are you using? What % would you recommend? I have the impression that my climate is somewhat similar to yours and I'm about to order some shade cloth.

I can order by the running foot anything from 30% to 80% but I can get pre-fabricated stuff in the size I need at 40%, 50%, or 60%. When I figure in what is required to secure the stuff it costs about the same either way.

If you could get reflective shade fabric that helps reduce heat as well as shading the plants, would that be worth a few extra bucks?

I think it is 70%, it was the cheapest stuff I could find ;) If I could get 50% for the same price, I would possibly change it over.

I had to get 14m x 3.6m to cover the greenhouse. At $10/m :(

Thanks Jaymie,
It is really good to know what you are using and what you think would be better. Now I just need to decide if I want the cheaper black cloth or the reflective white fabric.

Today, in between a few other jobs and a swim in the creek, we transferred the babbies from the quarantine IBC to the monster tank. They have been in there for a few weeks with salt.

We drained some of the water out, and topped it up with system water this morning. Late this afternoon we scooped them all out and put them in the tank.

We did a really rough count while this process was happening and there are more than 250 of them :getfish:

Of course, they vanished into the black depths of the monster tank, but some were swimming around above the concrete ledge eating algae :D They were also spotted trying to eat 6mm pellets

Now we have about 170 big jades and silvers and about 260 8cm jades. (they have definitely grown in the last 3 weeks :) )

The IBC was refilled and tomorrow it will house some more fish for their last week :eat:
