I think it is quite an acheivment there Jaymie. I think you can safely say you'res is the only system that needs a ladder to get in to or out of. Good work. What you need is a giant port hole on the side.... just kidding. I bet you were thinking 'submarine' a few times when you were sealing that thing!

we sealed up the porthole, the kids kept poking faces through it, I thought they might traumatise the fish.

The outside ladder is temporary, but I'm sure they'll learn to climb the pole soon enough to try to get in.

Its looking great Jaymie, I bet you can't wait to get those fish... ;) At last count you were going to go for around 250 silvers, that still the plan?

I'm in discussions with the hatchery. Last Q was 125 silvers & 125 jades. This may be a problem as they are harvested at different times. I think I'm going to have to phone them as opposed to emails (you can only get so much info from suppliers that way)
Silvers are due to be ready in December.

Sweet, wouldn't it work in your favour to have them ready at different times?

You've gone this far in just a coupla months, it will be painful having to wait that long for the fishies, unless you've got something else to do to keep you occupied... Oh thats right, I forgot, washing gravel... :)

I've been thinking about a net to keep them separate if they came at wildly different times/sizes/appetites.

But it's also the freight costs to get them here, hence the need for a phone call to have a proper discussion.

If we had them at slightly different times, they would be ready for harvest at different times (maybe).

Well, we've been away, good timing as it let the seal on the tank gas off for the required 10 days. The monster is filling right now. Yay!

The big grow bed needs a bit more work to stop some of the leaks, but the smaller one is just about ready to go with some gravel. I'm getting impatient with the gravel, because Alex only has 3 more days holidays and I need him to either fetch the gravel or stay with the kids while I go in the ute.

Here are some of the latest pics.

File comment: The big grow bed and the medium bed in place and just about ready to go. The big bed has a skirt for shin protection and for a dark spot for mushies.

we decided that black was a much better colour to bring well-balanced fish up in!
