As you know, I have started publishing a website:
http://www.aquaponics.eu

here is what I suggest:

I will move the pages describing my personal system in detail to a submenu called "AquaPonics in Belgium"
and intend to give the opportunity to contribute to all possibly interested
and I intend to keep this free of charge as long as possible (hopefully indefinitely)
I will need voluntary assistance to keep it this way

So I am inviting you all to send me texts describing your systems (or your dreams) for your own page(s) on the site based on a uniform template

the main menu will then have links to each region:
AquaPonics systems in the EU:
with submenu:
AquaPonics in Belgium
AquaPonics in Germany
AquaPonics in Wales
(so far, hopefully, and more to come)

in each of these in the future there will be other submenus
leading to a general page of individual system descriptions and on this page a link to their more elaborate personal domains (the ones you build yourselves)

people outside the EU, please don't feel excluded:
there is room for expansion within this initiative:
why not
AquaPonics outside the EU?
... and more?

the main pages should contain more general info on fish and plant species,
forever growing with as much details as possible: sowing and harvesting times, surface and nutrient needs, etc.., etc..

i kind off share C1's point of view, why can't we have an european thread just right here on BYAP?

i don't think you'll get more responses and more info if we start to crumble the BYAP society, it's true that we live in cooler climates but still, the other is not so much different from our hot neighbours's systems

i like the idea of working togheter and exploring, but why don't we just carry on here, i mean i like them aussies

maybe there's a need for different languages, so that our local people can read them, so we could either make our own local(slovenian etc. language) web pages.
I'm willing to share my info ofcourse but i bet i can't tell you more than BYAPers can.

sorry i just don't see/get the right reasons to start another web page, but pls feel free to pm me for any kind of info :blackeye:

I guess we do have a European thread on the forum Molj... right here.... and yes it could be used for exactly that purpose... and would allow cross-pollination with all the rest of the BYAPers...

But forums, consultancies, societies and trainers are popping up all over the world Molj... and anyone is entitled to start up what they wish... or indeed to claim anything they may wish... even if it hasn't any backing of real experience...

I guess some people start organisations in order to exercise a degree of power or control... or to further their "commercial" interests...

I'm glad you feel this forum has great value... and I agree with you... it's free, open to all and generally friendly and unrestricted...

What more could you want... :lol:

Having said that ... there is probably a role for such a society... to represent "aquaponics" at government and local council levels with regards to regulations, licensing etc...

And I guess it would serve a purpose as a localised gathering place for the wide range of countries that make Europe up.... and their many languages.... and time zones...

sorry if it sounded like i'm spitting on the idea, i just answeared hygicell because he pmed me
it's just that my experience with webpages like this one, where people have free exchange of ideas is one in a liftime, and when someone or something tries to brake the group it usually ends up in lost knowledge.
but don't get me wrong hygicell i plan to make a local website for supporting and connecting local non and english speaking slovenians--or rather support a PERMACULTURE site and include aquaponics in it, like connecting with the people that already work with the nature.

AP has a sense of use where there is little water, bad soil or no soil etc. it's nice but little people can afford an AP system that could sustain their food needs imo. SO i'm teaching myself about working with the nature so i can pass on the knowledge

but if then there's also the european aquaponics site and BYAP, man then i'm gonna spend my days infront off the monitor not researching:)

simplify is my point here, hope i haven't said anything insulting, else bitchslap me pls, respect towards all your efforts hygicell

I like the idea of a free exchange without censorship of conflicting views. Maybe use this thread as netural ground for ideas and Frank can still showcase european AP systems on his site. Dedicated sites for AP are great but there is more to AP and new relationships that are developing between AP, permiculture, micro farming. We are now seeing AP used for growing stock feed and a lot of us are watering dirt gardens and SFG's with AP water. I even grow duckweed and salivina in AP to use as mulch for permiculture. And there are ideas for the use of aglae as a bio mass for fuels. So not much of a need to reinvent the wheel and splinter people, we are a global community. But I do like the idea of hot neighbours's. :mrgreen:

Rather than this thread just be an advert for another site, an interactive

this forum used to have an European thread (started by me)
and it could still have one
if only you would have the politeness to PM me with whatever second thoughts you might have on my initiative
and, worse, answer my PM's with PM's
instead of publicly attacking and trying to discredit me

thus cluttering this thread

which makes it unreadable and most unattractive to whoever might be really interested in sharing AquaPonics in other languages
and what AP initiatives are developing in Europe
