Well the lettuce and wong Bok that have been in there nearly two weeks have roots trailing downs about 6 inches! the top bits are looking good too.
The "Blooom" is starting to lessen a bit and you can see a bit further into the water than before, Ir doesn't seem to have worried the fish any, we have been able to make out a few fish shapes gliding through the ooze and we have been throwing in handfuls of termites and watching them dissapear in swirls of feeding fishes. the roof is almost on, just a few more bits to go then the plastic roof will go on.
A lady from in town came out today and we showed her around our system , she has a spa that neeeds converting to Aquaponics, so we had the first , slightly unofficial, Townville Aqauponics Group meeting! hahahahhahahahaha. :P
Ok have bored you enough for today :D
Cheers
Axl

The fish like green ants and termites. The tropical and homemade version of feeding them worms!

The lady from town is really Murray's convert. We contacted her because of him. (share around the convert points)

I'm going to repeat the pictures of the rafts here in my thread

veggie floats.

these are broccoli box lids, anything similar would do too.

I have them tethered to the side of the tank to keep them out of the way of the pump.

File comment: The wider float at the front has been in the longest (2 weeks) roots are 15cm long under there!

no, just holes poked through the foam and the roots let loose in the water

I like it a lot. mY lettuces are growing faster in the DWC troughs than the gravel beds. The only reason I can think is that there is more water for them. It is certainly a viable way to do it.

Jaymie, they look really nice.

Are the plants' roots safe from the fish?

Well some of the roots are trailing down about 15cm so I can't see them getting terribly harrased by the fish, we will have to see if the silvers like to nibble. the only thing I am worried about is the strawbeerries, cos I am fairly sure that when they start to fruit that they will be raided during my work hours, I am also sure that the silvers will get the blame whether they can fly or not!

Mousetraps. negative re-inforcement. Then just look for bruised fingers.....you will have your culprit.
