It's bizzare to think while we are in the middle of the biggest drought on record down here, you guys are having the opposite

Monya, Bris is on level(x) restrictions
- we have gone through sprinklers on odd/even days
- no sprinklers, bucketed water only
- now on bucketed water on odd/even days only

(odd/even refers to house number:
odd - buckets on Mon,Wed,friday
even - Tue,Thu,Sat)
fines over $2,000 (I think) if caught using a hose)

Dams at 25% - so we are not having the opposite

AM, now that you live in Cairns have you noticed the phenomenon of intercity rivalry between Townsville and Cairns? Because I grew up there, we were brainwashed to hate Townsville. Alex grew up in Townsville, he hates Cairns (wouldn't live there if you paid him). It seems to be easing a bit, but its still there
Yes but only coz cairns sux! hehehehe

Les, I was meaning the tropics. You guys are in a shocker predicament like us, however, at least your Gov has been strong enuf to bring in the prudent water restrictions sooner, unlike SA where our restrictions have done jack shit.

Back to the old problem though that domestic water use is such a small percentage of the problem. Nuf said

I went to cairns once, all I remember was mud flats. I went to Townsville once, all I remember was a really nice cruise to Magnetic Island. LOL

I can tell you this Cairns has the only washroom where you can take a piss and watch people eating on the terrace. One way mirro on the john Scared piss out of a mate of mine. The had an all glass urinal with the mirror behind was great for a luagh but now i forget the name of the cafe.

As for townsville I remember lots but most of it had to do with echlen street so wont tarnish the name of tville. Cold Rockk was always good and some nice fish and chips on the "gravel" beach (the strand) was always a good time!!

Oh I forgot. Cairns had a all you can eat seafood joint called charlies. We got vouchers out of the paper, it was dirt cheap. We ate and ate till we could eat no more. We had buckets for the shells next to each seat at the table. As we were leaving we all undid our trouser buttons, it was crazy. At about 3 am I woke with the worst stomach ach I have ever had in my life. I wished I was dead for about 3 hours. Blamed it on the water.
The joint was sooo good, my old man used to say that when he gets rich, he's gonna charter a flight from Adelaide to Cairns just to go to Charlies.
