Jaymie,

Not meant to be a silly question, but do you intend to fill the whole tube with grow media??

Will you drip feed to each individual grow hole or just flood (even if slowly) from the top down?

If so, continually or timed flood/drain??

The whole tube will be filled up. The rest of the system is going to be flood and drain. The towers will be fed from one inflow.
I have yet to actually run the pump yet  but we will work it out as we go along. If the tubes don't end up with much flow through them or enough moisture retention, I may end up changing the medium from gravel to something else. (not sure what)
This is just another big ap experiment!

To clarify Jaymie...

The towers themselves will be flooded (top down) then drained to beds below? On a timer?

And/or beds flooded by another pump or will towers provide enough volume to flood the beds?

Sorry to drill you but I'd like to do something similar

Rupert, I'm not sure on the plumbing and pumping of water to the towers yet, but I will let you know once it is sorted out. Lots of guess work to happen yet.

Look what happened this morning! The alarm went off at 5am, and before the expected strong winds of the day... we got up and put the greenhouse film up, the Alex went to work, and I put up the shadecloth. It still needs tidying, but its finally UP!!!

Bird netting will go up around the sides, later... when I get to it

Once that's tidied, I can start installing the blue drums (with more free railway timber, not sleepers, but more appropriately sized) and the strawberry towers.

that's the plan, if I can ever get the thing sealed :x The medium grow bed is the corrugated iron one. The big bed is the lid from the original monster tank.
